This notebook brings the popular Deco Delights pattern to a new type of notebook for Holchester Designs.  Replacing the previous B5 version, this A5 version has a layflat binding, meaning you can effortlessly open it out flat without damaging the spine. 

An A5 notebook is a great size for having to hand, whether it's on your desk or being carried around.  The 250gsm card cover is ever so slightly textured, and is thick enough to give the pages some protection without being too heavy or bulky. 

The cover features original artwork by me, inspired by the Art Deco era which is one I absolutely adore.  The inside of the cover is a dark teal, and the first page features a monochrome version of the cover, along with a large circle space for any key information you may want at the front of your notebook. So there’s no need for first-page fear. 

The Internal pages are all 100gsm - so hold up well against the inkiest of everyday pens - and the light grey dot grid is enough to keep your writing straight (if that’s what you need) but also faint enough to draw over.  Which means it’s great for bullet journalling but is just as content being used as a stylish notebook for meeting notes, somewhere to doodle or as a journaling gift (especially for art-journaling or scrap-book style techniques).  Plus the pages are numbered, something I know many planner and bullet journaling fans sometimes find useful.

The binding is layflat or OTA-binding if you want the technical term.  It's similar to what is used on music scores so the orchestras music will stay flat whilst they're playing, and the same threads-sewn techniques have been applied to these notebooks, just on a smaller scale. 

These notebooks are printed here in the UK by an family-run independent business which specialises in this technique.  They also ensure sustainability within their processes, are FSC certified and they are carbon balanced printers.

Each notebook comes wrapped with a recycled paper belly band, and in some cases will also be wrapped in a biodegradable cellophane wrap to protect it which makes it a planet-friendly stationery gift too!

For a paper comparison Leuchtturm notebooks tend to be 80-100gsm, and standard printer paper is usually 70-80gsm.

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council, which promotes responsible forestry and, arguably better than just recycled paper, FSC-Certified paper confirms that the paper used is both recyclable in its own right and has originally come from a sustainable source committed to responsible forestry practices.
